Yesterday, a realtor in Tuscon, AZ became the first real estate agent who can legally use a drone for real estate photography, as reported by Tech Crunch. Of course, real estate agents along with builders and developers have been utilizing drones for some time now to show aerial images of their houses, communities, and condos.
In this case, the FAA approved the realtor “to fly a Phantom 2 Vision+ quadcopter to enhance academic community awareness and augment real estate listing videos.” Many restrictions will still exist, including a valid pilot’s license and an observer at all times the drone is in flight.
In Toronto, Canada, where competition in the condo market has reached a feverish pitch, developers are utilizing drones to photograph construction sites for international buyers. They can also show buyers the view from their future condo balcony – before the project has broken ground.
Drones can be a valuable asset to many real estate agents, homebuilders and developers as they provide unique features to new buyers who are becoming more sophisticated by the minute.
In two weeks, Constellation will be exhibiting our software for homebuilders at the 2015 International Builders Show. Visit our booth C2056 for a chance to win a drone* with HD camera to turbocharge your own marketing plan. We can show you how our sales software displays photo overlays on your community site map on your website.
If you would like to submit a petition for exemption to Section 333 to allow you to legally fly a drone in your community, you can apply here on the FAA website. And in Canada, check the rules and regulations for UAVs via Transport Canada.
* To enter the giveaway, simply stop by booth C2056 (and say hello), drop off your business card, and allow us to scan your badge. No purchase is necessary. The winner will be drawn at random after the show.
